Frequently Asked Questions About In-Home Care

What is a Home Care Package?

The government-funded Home Care Packages (HCP) program helps Australians over 65 to live independently at home for longer. The program offers four levels of funding, based on specific care needs and eligibility.

To access government-subsidised aged care services, you must first register with My Aged Care, the government agency, and complete an assessment.

What is Support at Home?

Support at Home is a new in-home aged care program launching on 1 July 2025. It aims to help older Australians maintain their independence and continue living at home for as long as possible.

This program will combine existing in-home care services into one simplified system, making support easier to access and more equitable. Support at Home will provide improved access to services, equipment, and home modifications, helping older people stay healthy, active, and connected to their communities.

Read more about these changes via our blog.

Can I switch from another provider?

Yes, absolutely. If you have an approved Home Care Package, you’re free to choose a provider that suits your needs. We can help you make the switch smoothly, with no disruption to your care. Get in touch with our team for more information.

What if I need extra support beyond my package?

If your care needs increase over time or your package level doesn’t quite cover your unique needs, we can explore privately funded service options alongside your package. Our team will work with you to make sure your support continues seamlessly.

I’ve just received my referral code, what happens now?

Once you’ve received your HCP approval letter with a referral code, you’re ready to start! Just contact us, and we’ll organise a complimentary in-home consultation to discuss your needs and help set up a personalised care plan.

Can you help me understand what’s included in my package?

Yes, we’ll go through your package with you, step-by-step. We’ll help explain what services you’re eligible for and how your funding can be best used to support your daily life. We’ll also help you plan ahead if your needs change in the future.

What if I want to start care before my package is assigned?

You’re welcome to arrange private services with us while you wait. We’ll help you get the care you need right away, and when your package is approved, we can transition your services seamlessly to your government-subsidised plan.

Can my family be involved in setting up my care?

Absolutely. We encourage the involvement of trusted family members or carers in the consultation and care planning process. Your comfort and peace of mind are what matters most and we’ll always work in partnership with you.
